江淹才尽

南朝梁时期，文学家江淹年轻时刻苦读书，文思敏捷，作品深得众人喜爱。官至光禄大夫后文章大不如以前，诗也平淡无奇。原来他去宣城游玩时，在冶亭梦中见到郭璞，郭璞向他讨还五色笔，从此就文思枯竭，才能丧尽。

Liang Jiangyan in the Southern Dynasty had few literary names and was called Jianglang in the world. In his later years, there was no good verse in his poems, so people said that he was exhausted. Later, it was often used to describe the decline of talent.
